Friday Night Fights by Alison Grippo

Friday Night Fights is a selection of black and white photographs by photographer Alison Grippo from her documentary project about amateur and professional boxing in New York City. This long-term documentary project, soon to be a book, follows both amateur and recently turned pro boxers in New York City who gather almost every month in St. Paul's Church on 59th Street. Alison says of her project that:
"Every fighter has a story, from finding God to emigrating to the United States and I am trying to find them all. Each boxer, each sportsman, trains for something bigger than themselves, for the opportunity to create a legacy - to be remembered. I am honored to participate in that dream."
