Boston Crib

An amusing and informing email from my cousin who just moved to Boston:

yo what up dog? since its hard to get to my crib I thought I would bring my crib to you. So brace yourself for MTV cribs Sadhna style!!! Hello and welcome to my crib. The first thing you should check out is my fridge. Well I missed my peapod delivery, but stop and shop is on the way.. I tend to keep alot of condiments: yogurt for my *kechari, athanu for my kechari, ketchup for my kechari, and then the regs: mayo, mustard, butter for my kechari. I am a big cheese fan, so I have to keep a variety, mozz for my tomato, and basil salads, american, provolone, and chedda :) Inside the door, or should I say outside the door, I have a pitcher of ice tea, yes it's fresh! Milk, and eggs. Atleast I have the basics. my kitchen is awesome because its mine. I especially like the lights, and the bar stool. yes its a singular. I bought two and arti and I put the first one together, it took like 2 hours, so the other one is sitting in a box until I feel productive again... my living room has bland colors. I guess I am into brown, off white, and tan shades. It wasn't planned I am just boring. never the less it is complimented well with my 52'' flat screen. and dont forget my extremely large tea pot. It was a gift from my dad to my mom back in the 1900's from bombay company, and now I have inherited it.. as my new piggy bank for spare dolla dolla bills yo. my bedroom is where all the magic does not happen. I mostly like to try on my outfits that I never wear or shove all my cloths into my closet so my room appears neat... notice the cat on my pillow, she is the female, version of Leicester, and much better behaved (stuffed). I try to hold her when I sleep but she always ends up on the floor, as if I violently chuck her unconsciously across the room in the wee hours of the evening. my office is my favorate room, and my bookcase is my special friend. It holds my heart inside and the love of my life Harry. When I feel sad or lonely I go up to the glass and pull something beautiful out and hold it sometimes, and feel ALL better.... yeah so I spend alot of time alone. Also my conversations with myself get longer and more complex everyday... oh yeah i also included my great view, thats my street yo! beantown represent.... the mean streets of boston!!!

Oh Mischa

Why did you have to die on the OC? Even though the death was not the best acting-you still look good as always. Love the 2nd pic with rounded collars!

Dans Paris

Courtesy of NY Times.

This movie will be released in France in October 2006. Starring Romain Duris, 32 (Le Divorce)as a chronically depressed man who has complex relationships with his brother and his girlfriend (join the club). He quotes “I need soul in my clothes,” with a “rock, reggae, hip-hop avec un poquito d’Hedi Slimane” look. “I love the Gypsies,” he says. “They have good taste in shoes.”

Take me to Pariiiii!

Sabyasachi Mukherjee-Part 1

Starting from Milan 2005:

Hands down, his stuff rocks and I must pay homage to him this year. He's done what no other Indian designers have done-he's experimented with tradional Sari fabrics and just let it rip. He's definetly taken a risk and you can see it. I read that his mom cringed when she saw his stuff-but look at him now!

Remembering 9/11

It feels like yesterday I was riding the 7 train into work- I saw the first tower ablaze. Thinking it just must be a fire. I go into work and the chaos begins. At that time my cousin-Nimi from UK was in town visiting NYC. It was a day of pain, loss and reality check. My family suggested I leave the city. How can I leave a city that gave birth to a new me? A city that was by my side during all my struggles and successes...a place where I feel safe amidst all the chaos.

NYC you are for sure loved by me dearly.

Book

As soon as I read: London's Hounslow section...my hometown! A place I called home before my new home: America.

Gautam Malkani's debut novel-Londonstani (love the name-hope the story lives upto it!) is about rude desi boys with their own hip hop culture-so I'm thinking alot of cursing, British ebonics with the sarcasm to top it off.

Malkani is a director of Financial Times's Creative Business section, says he was introduced to the hip hop culture 5 years ago studying at Cambridge. This book has received rave reviews from the New York Times and chose it as one of the weekly 10 books on the Editor's Choice List.

If I knew that hip hop culture could lead to this I would have written a page or two myself.
